Wine, Wags and Whiskers Fundraiser for the Oconee Regional Humane Society a huge success

The Lake Oconee community came together on Sept. 13for a delightful evening to support ORHS and the well-being of our furry friends. The second annual Wine, Wags and Whiskers event, held at The Oconee Brewing Company, brought together animal lovers who share a common goal: to ensure the welfare of animals in need.
At this year’s event, attendees learned from ORHSExecutive DirectorDiane Robinsonwhat ORHS does in addition to dog and cat adoptions.The organization supports the local communities with Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) programs; dog and cat food distributions to local food banks, Meals on Wheels and other local charities, as well as provides financial support for veterinary care to residents in need.
Robinson also spoke about the future of ORHS and the current plans to expand and improve the shelter as the need continues to grow with the local communities.In addition, those in attendance heard from Greensboro City Councilman Chris Moore who spoke about the ongoing partnership and successes with the current TNR program in the city of Greensboro.ORHS’s TNR program currently extends to Greene, Putnamand Baldwin counties where the control of community cats is essential for the health and well-being of the animals as well as the community.
Attendees of the event had the opportunity to taste nine different wines by Rescue Dog Winery, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres by the Burch and desserts by Cafe 44.Throughout the evening, live music was provided by South of Somewhere.Attendees were able to bid on incredible silent auction items and live auction items led by Ted Baker.
Through the combined efforts of those who attended, donated, volunteered, and sponsored the event, ORHS was able to raise critical funds to support our goal of reducing pet homelessness and helping pets and their caregivers have the best quality of life.The Wine, Wagsand Whiskers Wine Tasting fundraising event was an outstanding success, thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated supporters, volunteersand sponsors.
