Lake Oconee Fishing Forecast, March 12, 2015

Published 8:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2015

Lake Conditions – The lake has heavy stain in the rivers and moderate stain throughout the lake.

Lake Water Temperature – 49-51 degrees but look for warmer weather this week to begin a slow warm up.

Largemouth Bass – FAIR –Fishing continues to be tough. Most of the fish being caught are being caught on jigs around deeper docks and spinnerbaits and crankbaits around any rock or wood structure. The clearest water is in Richland Creek. Tough conditions require a slow presentation right now. A slow movement toward spawning areas will soon begin.

Crappie – GOOD – The fish are in the mouths or center of large coves and creeks and are being caught by trolling (pushing and pulling) dark colored jigs due to the heavily stained water.

Striped Bass/White Bass/Hybrid Bass – POOR – The fish bite continues to be very slow.

Catfish – NO REPORT
