GREENSBORO, Ga. — Greene County Sheriff Donnie Harrison, Charles Middletonand Steve Broadbent announce the formation of the Greene County Public Safety Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to provide Greene County residents with access to the tax benefits offered through the LESS Crime Act. This recently enacted state legislation allows Georgia taxpayers to claim a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for supporting local law enforcement efforts by contributing to qualified law enforcement foundations, such as the Greene County Public Safety Foundation.
The Greene County Public Safety Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity created specifically for this new state tax credit program. Everything a business or individual taxpayer needs to make a contribution and receive the state tax credit is available at the Foundation’s new website, greenepsf.com.
Any business or an individual taxpayer filing jointly or individually, can contribute to the Green County Public Safety Foundation and will then receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit to offset their Georgia income tax liability. It is not too late to make a contribution and receive your tax credit for the 2023 tax year.
The Greene County Public Safety Foundation provides a convenient and easy way for businesses and individuals to support the Greene County Sheriff’s Office by providing funding for equipment, training, salaries for additional deputies, K-9 support, community assistance and more.
“You, as the taxpayer, are directing your tax dollars to your local community. This program is a simple, direct, and effective way to support the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with your state tax dollars that otherwise would be paid to the State of Georgia,”Steve Broadbent, the foundation’s chairperson said.
“As sheriff, I am grateful for the support that will be provided by our local taxpayers through this Foundation,” said Sheriff Harrison. “Every dollar received from the foundation will be used to directly support and enhance our law enforcement efforts in Greene County.”
Individual taxpayers can contribute up to $5,000, married couples filing jointly can contribute up to $10,000, and large corporations can contribute up to 75% of their state income tax liability.
All Greene County residents are encouraged to go to the Foundation website, (https://greenepsf.com) learn more about this program and find out how easy it is to direct their state tax dollars to their local law enforcement.
