The Lake Oconee Elks Lodge is a partner with the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties in a program called Pets Love Vets, which provides free shelter pet adoption for U.S. military Veterans.

To date, 141 animals from shelters in Greene, Putnam, and Oconee Counties have been adopted by veterans and their families.  Lake Oconee Lodge recently donated $2,500 to the Pets Love Vets program.

Pets Love Vets has had a profound impact on central Georgia’s Veteran community.  Pets Love Vets helps once-troubled Veterans achieve a measure of peace and tranquility in their lives; the unconditional love and acceptance that a companion pet offers have instantaneous benefits for the veteran.
