The members of Del Webb Lake Oconee 100 Who Care recently presented a check for $6,280 to Martha’s Closet in Hancock County. The nonprofit helps an average of 120 people per month, especially the elderly, single mothers and grandparents raising their grandchildren and unhoused individuals. During the holidays they have been able to provide Christmas meals that include ham, fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as gifts to more than 200 families. Donations provide school supplies and uniforms to children and basic household, personal hygiene and baby supplies. Martha’s Closet is a much-needed resource for Hancock County and relies on donations to continue to be able to assist neighbors in need.
