OPAS announces scholarship deadline for aspiring performing arts majors

The Oconee Performing Arts (OPAS) is delighted to announce the continuation of its annual college scholarship program for students dedicated to pursuing a career in the performing arts. With a commitment to fostering and supporting the next generation of talented performers, OPAS invites eligible individuals to apply for these prestigious scholarships.

The OPAS College Scholarships are designed to assist exceptional students with passion, talent and dedication to the performing arts. Aspiring performers in fields such as theatre, music, danceand related disciplines are encouraged to seize this opportunity to further their education and training.

Applications for the scholarships are now open and will be accepted until April 30, 2024. Interested candidates can access the application form and detailed information about the scholarship program on the official OPAS website, www.opas.org.

“We are thrilled to continue to offer these scholarships to aspiring performing artists in our community. The scholarship program is open to high school seniors and current college students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and commitment to their craft. Awardees will be selected based on their artistic merit, need, academic achievements, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement expressing their aspirations and dedication to the performing arts.

OPAS has been a cornerstone of the local arts community, providing a platform for creative expression and fostering a love for the performing arts through various programs and events. Continuing the college scholarship program is a testament to their ongoing commitment to nurturing and empowering young talent.

The recipients of the OPAS College Scholarships will be announced on May 15th. These scholarships aim to alleviate the financial burden associated with pursuing higher education in the performing arts, enabling students to focus on honing their skills and realizing their artistic dreams.

Next up on the OPAS performing calendar is the OPAS Lounge Series “Louis Armstrong and More!” on March 22at Festival Hall at 7:30 p.m.

The return of the family-friendly OPAS Memorial Day Patriotic Celebration is closing the season.This popular outdoor concert will be held on May 25 at 7 PM at The Farm at Oconee.After some patriotic favorites played by a symphony orchestra, the concert will feature Queens Of Soul. Enjoy the soulful sounds Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Adele, Gladys Knight and more! The Queens are true divas who have played all over the globe. Legendary Conductor Larry Blank leads the Orchestra.
