On Saturday, April 27, Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849 and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Drug Take Back in front of The Oconee Cellar. Sheriff Donnie Harrison and Lake Oconee Elks Dom Serra and Don Hill collected 18 pounds of unneeded and outdated prescription drugs and many OTC products. The prescription drugs will be incinerated by the DEA, and the OTC will be destroyed by Sheriff Harrison. Over the past eight years there have been almost 300 pounds of drugs collected and destroyed. There will be another drug take back day on Oct. 26, at the same location.
