Acoustic guitar show coming to Crooked Pines

The Naturally Acoustic Guitar Show, presented by Crooked Pines Farm and Chee Guitars, is coming up on Sept. 13 at the farm just 15 minutes south of Madison.

Georgia’s only guitar show offers up a day full of performances, workshops, luthiers and collectors celebrating the acoustic guitar. Festivities start at 9 a.m.

Luthiers will display their stunning custom, handmade, acoustic guitars and collectors offer new and used acoustic guitars! Browse legendary C.F. Morrison Guitars from Colorado, Baxendale Guitar from Athens, Hasty Guitar from Brunswick, Baruke Guitars from Gainesville, Deadwood Guitar Company from Athens, Nine Fingers Guitars from Atlanta, Rose Creek Guitars from Cumming, Natures Harmony from Byron, Bar K from Phenix City, Ala. and Chee Guitars from Duluth. Acoustic guitar enthusiasts, mark your calendar! Bring your guitar and take a workshop or two.

Mesmerizing singer/songwriter, Nathan Sheppard, steps up to the mic to serve as Ambassador of the show! Nathan Sheppard’s thoughtful, melodic, songs have been featured on TV and movie soundtracks. The morning stage presents luthiers demoing their fine, custom made, guitars! At 12:15, the lovely, talented, MaCayla Cook lights up the stage. Sign up for her “3 Chords and a Song” workshop starting at 1 p.m.

Virtuoso guitarist, Jimmy Robinson, follows at 12:45. Reviews of this phenomenal player include, “Robinson is simply a beast, a phenom, a melder and molder of overlapping styles underlying and modifying each other…” and “Talent, emotion and plain old musicianship…Robinson is nothing short of brilliant.” Sign up early for his Instrumental Acoustic workshop at 2 p.m.

Kick back and enjoy the afternoon with Master Luthier, Scott Baxendale, of Baxendale Guitar in Athens offering his rockabilly and jazz at 1:45 followed by his Luthier workshop at 2:45. Scott owns the Athens Luthier Academy and purchased Mossman Guitars in 1985. He has restored guitars for Johnny Cash, Elvis Costello and Billy Gibbons and worked on guitars for Willy Nelson, Donovan and John Mellencamp amongst others. The Rick Fowler Band at 2:30, Nathan Sheppard at 3 p.m., Honey Bear at 3:45 (Joe Simmons & Daniel Mitchell), Scott Little at 4:30 with the Matt Rogers Band taking the stage at 6 p.m. to round out the performances.

Crooked Pines Farm is one of Georgia’s most charming event venues featuring a 4,000 square foot, two story, air-conditioned, barn set on 82 acres just 15 minutes south of Madison, at 355 Harmony Road, Eatonton.
