Crooked Pines Farm brings over 900 people to second annual Ice Cream Festival

EATONTON — On July 16, 2016, Crooked Pines Farm on Harmony Road in Eatonton hosted its second annual ice cream festival. Over 900 people attended the event between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and enjoyed tasting ice cream, live entertainment and fun on the farm with family and friends.
Thirteen teams, made up of community members and business representatives, competed in two divisions of an ice cream competition at the festival: the local creamery division and the back porch division. Each team provided free samples of ice cream to festival attendees and made at least a portion of their ice cream on the scene. Some flavors submitted were: “Peanut Butter Blitz,” “Key Lime,” “Cookie Monster” and “Mrs. Piggyberry.”
Also among the festival’s activities were an Ice Cream Queen pageant for children entering kindergarten through eighth grade, a popsicle stick sculpture competition and a demonstration by Saltamacchio’s Tang Soo Do Karate School. Six young girls participated in the pageant and three were crowned McKenna Riser was “Little Miss,” Rebecca Shapiro “Young Miss” and Abigail Shapiro “Junior Miss.”
Duncan Criscoe, owner of Crooked Pines Farm and the creator of this event, was pleased with how the day turned out. “We are so happy with the wonderful weather, the turnout and, most importantly, the support from the local community,” Criscoe said.
Country Kitchen’s “Key Lime” and The Peoples Bank’s “Peep Berry with Zest” won first place and $500 in the local creamery division and back porch division, respectively, though second, third and Taster’s Choice prizes were awarded to other teams in each division as well.
The Ice Cream Festival was sponsored by Ace Hardware Lake Oconee, Bo Trawick – State Farm Insurance Agent, Allgood Pest Solution, The Sew Zone USA and The Peoples Bank.
