Lake Oconee Fishing Forecast, Thursday, March 10, 2016

Published 8:00 am Thursday, March 10, 2016

Lake Conditions – The main lake continues to slowly clear.

Lake Water Temperature – 53-54 degrees

Largemouth Bass – SLOW – Fishing continues to be fair but is showing signs of picking up with the warmer weather. Anglers should try multiple patterns and lures as the bass begin their first but slight move toward spawning areas. Good lure choices are small crankbaits, jigs and spinnerbaits around shoreline structure.

Crappie – GOOD/EXCELLENT – The trolling bite is getting better every day with the crappie located in the mouths of large coves and creeks. Some fish have begun moving into the coves and creeks on the warm days we are now having. Look for the move to shallow areas to continue as the forecast is for increasingly warmer days. Shooting jigs under docks is also improving.

Striped Bass/White Bass/Hybrid Bass – FAIR/GOOD – The fish have begun a slow movement to where the fish will try to spawn. Locations up the creeks and rivers are prime location but look for the area in front of the dam to get hot soon. Live bait and spoons will catch those fish.

Catfish – NO REPORT.
