GREENSBORO — Now in its fifth year of operation, The Boathouse marina at Harbor Club on Lake Oconee has announced the reopening of its restaurant and a full slate of weekend outdoor entertainment for the 2018 lake season. The Boathouse restaurant is open to the public on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., and Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Boathouse is a vibrant marina and lakefront recreational amenity that won the 2016 Aurora Award from the National Association of Homebuilders for the “Best Recreational Facility in the Southeast.”

The Boathouse features an old-time general store, rustic restaurant and banquet room. There is also a bocce ball court, a putting green and a lakefront grand lawn that has quickly become one of Lake Oconee’s most popular outdoor entertainment venues, where people arrive by boat or car, throw down a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a night under the stars.

The grand lawn will host an eclectic variety of entertainers this summer, typically from 6:30-9:30 pm. It is best to check with The Boathouse to confirm performances, but the talent currently scheduled for this season includes:

  • Sunday, May 27 – Carey Station Road Band featuring lead singer, Princess
  • Saturday, June 2 – Fall Line Ramblers Band
  • Sat, June 9 – Ronnie Pittman
  • Sat, June 16 – Amy Rae Trio
  • Sat, June 23 – Keith Gregory
  • Sat, June 30 – Joshua Hilley
  • Sat, July 7 – Hands of Time Band
  • Sat, July 14 – Matt Rogers
  • Sat, July 21 – Oconee Rhythm Section
  • Sat, July 28 – Karianne Jean
  • Sat, Aug. 4 – Fall Line Ramblers Band

This summer The Boathouse restaurant will be guided by Chef Adam Smith, whose coastal and island cuisine influences are found on a reimagined menu at the marina. His diverse culinary background includes stints on Key West, and he was most recently at the Smith’s Coastal Grill, a restaurant he opened in Eatonton.

New menu items from Chef Smith include fish and shrimp tacos, Key West shrimp fritters, a blackened grouper sandwich, Cuban-style empanadas, homemade Key Lime pie, plus casual favorites like burgers and delectable Bar-B-Q from the Boathouse smoker. There also will be vegetarian offerings, a widely expanded kid’s menu and grab-and-go lunches for boaters on the run.

For boating and water sports enthusiasts The Boathouse features a boat ramp, community dock, marine fuel pumps, plus pontoon boat, Jet Ski, paddleboard and kayak rentals. An outdoor deck near the dock is the perfect spot to grab lunch or dinner before getting back on the lake.

The Boathouse plans to soon open the second modular building of 72 covered, dry storage spaces for the boats of both Harbor Club property owners and those who live outside the community. Ultimately, as many as 300 boat storage spaces may be available, making The Boathouse the largest marina on Lake Oconee. The marina operations are open year-round.

The Boathouse is located just outside of Harbor Club’s east gate on Walker Church Road, a mile south of the Richland Connector. It is situated on the Richland Creek side of Lake Oconee, known for the clearest waters on the lake. By boat it is roughly three miles north of the Ritz-Carton Lodge.
