Hospice care allows patients and families to focus on living.
November is National Hospice & Palliative Care Month, and Peaceful Purpose Hospice of Georgia is raising awareness about hospice care, palliative care, and bereavement all month long.
Hospice care expands beyond personal experiences amongst patients and nurses. Therefore preparation and participation at the end of life require knowledgeable reasoning and skilled professionals to accommodate every factor anticipated within this stage. PPH’s team partners with patients and their loved ones to create a plan of care to maximize comfort, spiritual well-being, and psychosocial needs.
According to Medical Director Dr. Anil Puri, early admission to hospice can provide an extended period of comfort for the patients in hospice care and the caretakers. Evidenced-based practice is encouraging professionals to offer “honest communication with patients about the benefits of continuous aggressive treatment for advanced disease, discussion of hospice services early in the course of the disease, and emphasizing that patients will not be “abandoned” by their medical care provider can help patients be more open to the idea of hospice as an option.
There’s an inaccurate perception amongst the public that hospice care means that you’ve given up. During November and throughout the year, allow Peaceful Purpose Hospice of Georgia the opportunity to show you firsthand how hospice can improve quality of life.
