GREENSBORO, Ga. — On July 1, Tina Fischlin, member of the local Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties, assumed the esteemed role of District Governor for Rotary District 6910.  Serving as governor for an entire Rotary district is an incredible honor. Individuals who serve in this capacity are recognized leaders, nominated by their local clubs to fill this important role. As district governor, Fischlin will be the official representative of Rotary International for District 6910 which encompass 71 clubs and 3107 members.  As governor, the mission is to lead clubs, inspire Rotary members, and engage the general public in the important role fulfilled by Rotary in our communities. District governors serve for one full Rotary year, from July 1 to June 30, and are also very actively engaged in District decision-making leading up to their year as Governor.

For more than 20 years, Fischlin has been enabling programs around the world to maximize impact and reach to those most in need. A native of Reidsville, Ga., she attended Georgia Southern University. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta to continue her education and worked in the financial sector. She is a licensed real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Lake Oconee Realty serving the Lake Oconee area. In addition, she owns and operates Barefoot Mountain Farms providing Fraser fir Christmas trees and greenery to schools and civic clubs throughout the Southeast. As an advocate for reforestation, she established the Davis-Hollcroft Family Forestry Scholarship at the University of Georgia.  This scholarship is presented annually to a student studying at UGA’s Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources.

Fischlin’s volunteer work with organizations across the globe addresses the need for clean water, disease prevention, healthcare and literacy projects. In 2008, she joined Alliance for Smiles, a volunteer-based nonprofit, mobilizing hundreds of medical and non-medical volunteers from all over the world. Their work advances healthcare, trains local medical professional, and delivers surgical care for patients with cleft lip and cleft palate in their communities.

She is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties where she served as Club President in 2011-2012 and currently serves as the club’s International Service Chair. Active at the District Level, Tina has served as Assistant Governor, team member on the finance committee, International Service Chair, and is a graduate of Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI).  She has received Rotary’s highest honor, the “Service Above Self” international award, which recognizes less than 150 individuals annually who demonstrate their commitment to helping others.

She is married to Mike Fischlin, a former Major League Baseball player who continues to live his passion as a sports agent with the Boras Corporation. In her spare time, she enjoys running, golf, spending time with family and friends and serving in her community and around the world. Tina, Mike, and their dog, Sophia Loren, reside in Reynolds Lake Oconee.
