ON THE MARKET: Falling in love again

A few days ago, we celebrated Valentine’s Day. A day we buy flowers and candy to show our loved one how much we love and appreciate them, many times falling in love again.
Our home is the place we love and enjoy with our loved ones. A place to kick back and relax in a comforting atmosphere.
Maybe the home you love may need a little uplifting. Adding a few changes to your home will not only make you fall in love again but see the beauty you first saw when you purchased the home.
As a child and even as an adult, I remember coming home and seeing the little change my mother would make to our home by adding new curtains and a new rug in the kitchen. I always enjoyed the little additions that my mother did to give the house a new look, and it cost her very little.
By changing the kitchen rug and adding new kitchen curtains. It was refreshing and she spent little. Even rearranging the furniture was a joy.
As our home ages, we put in a new A/C unit, roof, hot water heater, etc.
These are things that must be attended to but never noticed. Adding a few changes to the interior will give your family and friends more enjoyment and believe me they will compliment you and definitely notice.
Here are some ideas:
—Add a new paint color to a few rooms.
—Try a new window treatment. Not heavy. A great idea for in your bathroom is putting up a decorative rod. Pick a color that will coordinate with your bath. Buy a roll of satin ribbon, and a roll of sheer. Stager them in short & long lengths and thread them on the curtain rod. Saw this and it is easy and so attractive.
—Create a calming place in your home. Create a reading nook, a home-spa bathroom. Use soft muted colors.
—Bring nature inside your home. Buy fresh plants. Take down your heavy window treatments and bring in the light.
—Humans are pro-social beings. If you have a family room, make it a fun place to gather. Have a card table with games on display.
—If your kitchen is a little dated, changing your island countertop, and adding new barstools would give it a whole new look. If you have pendant lights above the island, change the lights or if you don’t want to invest in new lights change the shades. A bright color on the doors under the counter will really give it a pop.
—New area rugs, pictures and accessories will give your home a refreshing look.
—The power of scent is always pleasant to the senses. Scented candles will bring ambiance and a calming mood.
—Filling your homes with pictures and keepsakes given to you by your loved ones. Being surrounded by these gifts bring us a sense of fulfillment.
Make your home warm and inviting. A place filled with love & laughter. Memories are made of this.
