Baskets of Hope bringing Easter joy to local foster and disadvantaged children

The Lake Area Easter Basket Project, also known as Baskets of Hope, is once again spreading Easter joy to children in foster care and those facing economic hardship.

Since its inception in 2020, this heartfelt initiative has delivered over 2,300 Easter baskets to children across 12 Middle Georgia counties, bringing a sense of hope and celebration during the Easter

season.

In 2024 alone, the project distributed 791 baskets to children in need. This was made possible by the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners who came together to ensure no child

was forgotten during Easter.

Inspired by Easter’s message of renewal and revitalized spirit, Baskets of Hope seeks to make a difference through a simple yet meaningful gesture: providing children in need with a special

Easter basket filled with love. The project is primarily funded through individual donations and contributions from church and civic groups, and each year, the generosity of the community ensures that no child is forgotten.

As of September 2024, Georgia’s foster care system was serving approximately 11,000 children.

Many of these children, along with others facing economic hardship, may not experience the traditional joys of Easter. Baskets of Hope is committed to ensuring these children feel seen, valued and celebrated.

The goal is to serve children in Putnam, Greene, Baldwin, Morgan, Jasper, Jones, Newton, Rockdale, Hancock, Oconee and Washington counties, offering them the joy and

excitement of Easter.
