GREENSBORO, Ga. — Second Harvest will hold its monthly food distribution Saturday, March 15 from 8 to 9 a.m. (or until food supplies are depleted). In addition, the Lake Oconee Humane Society will be on hand to distribute pet food and supplies.

The distribution will be held at the First Methodist Church Greensboro-Lake Oconee at 202 W. Broad St. in downtown Greensboro.

“Sponsors of the Month” are Exchange Bank of Lake Oconee and Jo Jones and Company Real Estate.

Heartfelt thanks to the community for the ongoing support of the BackPack Program, which helps provide weekend meals to elementary students supported by Second Harvest.

Second Harvest is a signature project of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties. The mission of the program is to eliminate hunger in these counties.  The program started in late 2008 by identifying places to “rescue” excess food. Over the years, the program has expanded to include monthly food distributions and the School Backpack Program which provides “weekend backpack meals” to elementary school children from low-income families.
