Rotary Club honors February 2025 Students-of-the-Month

GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for February 2025: Adrian Tirado-Rocha (Greene County High School), Wilson Moore (Gatewood), James Hayden Roling (NGA), and Ty Young (Putnam County High School). Also recognized was January Student-of-the-Month Markayla Ward (Greene County High School).
Adrian Tirado-Rocha is the February student of the month from Greene County High School, where he is enrolled in dual enrollment, honors and AP classes. He actively participates in many clubs, including DECA, Skills-USA, Hispanic Leadership Club, and Yearbook. He is actively an editor in the Yearbook, as he has been for the past two years. For the last three years, he has participated in cross country. Outside of school, he enjoys volunteering with DECA, creating 3-D Models for floor plans, and playing trombone and violin. After graduating, he plans to attend Kennesaw State University to obtain a bachelor’s in architecture and an associate’s in interior designing. Megan Calicott is his chosen Greene County High School Teacher-of-the-Month.
Markayla Ward is the January student of the month from Greene County High School. Her parents are Marquel and Ernestine Ward. Along with being an AP, dual enrollment, and honor roll student, she is a dedicated member of DECA, HOSA, BETA Club, TOME Society, Student Travelers, UGA Leadership, prom committee, and athletic training program. She spends her free time singing, reading and talking to her best friends. She volunteers with the Southland Jubilee in April each year and is currently an intern in her school’s career coaching program. Her most positive attribute is not letting minor setbacks keep her down. Her father is someone she has the utmost respect for. She respects him due to all he has endured in his life and how he perseveres through every trial he is faced with. She selected Gregory Ingram as her Teacher-of-the-Month.
Wilson Moore is a senior at Gatewood High School. His parents are Roger and Grace Moore. Wilson received the highest honors throughout high school. He has been a member of the Gatewood varsity baseball team since his freshman year, aiding in the team’s back-to-back state championships. While on the team, he has been named to the All-State team twice and was the 2024 player of the year. After high school, he plans to pursue baseball at the collegiate level, while majoring in business. Daulton Veal, his baseball coach, is his chosen Gatewood High School Teacher-of-the-Month.
James Hayden Roling is the son of Chad and Holly Roling of Buckhead. He is the big brother of Henry and Edith Roling, who also attend Nathanael Greene Academy. He has attended Nathanael Greene for four years. He is a member of Buckhead Baptist church in downtown Buckhead, Georgia. He is currently employed by Higdon Electric. He is participating in the College and Career Academy for welding and plans to pursue a career in welding after graduation. His interests include ranch work, welding, and trucks. Rebecca Mency is his chosen Nathanael Greene Academy School Teacher-of-the-Month.
Ty Young is a senior at Putnam County High School. His dad is Kenny Young. An honor roll student, he is a member of service leadership, Beta Club, the Farmers and Merchants Bank Junior Board, and the International Thespians Society. He enjoys musical theater, working out, and spending time with his pets. He also interns at The Plaza Arts Center, where he connects with locals in the arts and helps with the technical aspects of productions. He considers his work ethic to be his most positive attribute. After high school, he plans to attend the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega and pursue a bachelor of science in Nursing. He sees himself as a registered nurse in 10 years. He selected Anna Walker as his Teacher-of-the-Month.
