GREENSBORO, Ga. — Now in its seventh year of operation, The Boathouse marina at Harbor Club on Lake Oconee has announced the reopening of its restaurant for the 2020 lake season, although under Covid virus guidelines. The restaurant will offer takeout service only with a limited menu, plus social-distance outdoor seating at picnic tables and on the Grand Lawn.

The Boathouse restaurant is open to the public from Friday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Patrons of the restaurant are requested to respect a 15-minute boat docking time, so as to allow other customers to access the facility from the lake. Food and beverage orders may be placed in advance by calling the restaurant at 706-999-9717.

In past years the lakefront Grand Lawn has proved to be one of Lake Oconee’s most popular outdoor live entertainment venues. Current guidelines, however, do not allow for that kind of congregation this summer unless restrictions are eased.

In addition to the restaurant reopening, The Boathouse marina is unveiling plans for a third dry boat storage building. Unlike the original storage building, where all 72 boat racks are the same size, the new building will have a flexible design that allows for the racks to vary in height in order to accommodate high-profile water craft.

Boat storage is available to both Harbor Club residents and those who live outside of the community. Ultimately, as many as 300 boat storage spaces may be available, making The Boathouse the largest marina on Lake Oconee. The marina operations are open year-round and reservations are now being taken for the third boat storage building.

The Boathouse is a vibrant marina and lakefront recreational amenity that won the 2016 Aurora Award from the National Association of Homebuilders for the “Best Recreational Facility in the Southeast.” 

For boating and water sports enthusiasts The Boathouse features a boat ramp, community dock, marine fuel pumps, and watercraft rentals.  

The Boathouse is located just outside of Harbor Club’s east gate on Walker Church Road, a mile south of the Richland Connector. It is situated on the Richland Creek side of Lake Oconee, known for the clearest waters on the lake. By boat it is roughly three miles north of the Ritz-Carton Lodge.
