Middle Georgia Medical Associates (MMA) is proud to announce that W. Andrew Lawrence, M.D., general surgeon, is now seeing patients at MMA in Greensboro.

Dr. Lawrence will be seeing patients by appointment every Thursday at the MMA office, 1110 Commerce Drive, Suite 108, in Lake Oconee Village off of Linger Longer Road. For more information or to make an appointment with Dr. Lawrence please call 706-548-5488.

Dr. Lawrence started working for Athens General and Colorectal Surgeons (AGCS) in July. AGCS provides surgical care for issues including gastrointestinal and abdominal conditions, hernia and gallbladder disease, trauma, cancer care, breast disease and endocrine disease (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands).

Prior to working with AGCS, Dr. Lawrence practiced with Mountain Surgical Associates in Vail, Colo. He received his bachelor’s degree with distinction in civil engineering from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

He completed his general surgery internship and residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Lawrence is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was a member of Mountain Surgical Associates from 2002-2013 and served as trauma director and intensive care unit co-director at Vail Valley Medical Center. His areas of interest include advanced laparoscopy, gastrointestinal, oncologic and endocrine surgery.
