Lake Country resident and author Andrea Cassell was recently awarded the prestigious 2021 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for her children’s book “Kibby the Space Dog” (in the category of animals and pets). Cassell is also a three-time Mom’s Choice-Gold Award Winner.

The Pinnacle Achievement Award honors special recognition for an outstanding contribution by an author, or book, to the industry or society at large. Experienced editors and judges select books based on content, quality, writing, style, presentation, and cover design. These popular awards have been given for over 40 years in affiliation with The National Association of Book Entrepreneurs.

“Kibby the Space Dog” is a delightful and beautifully-illustrated book about an adorable, miniature labradoodle that experiences rejection when he has to wear the “cone of shame” due to stitches. Children are reluctant to get near him and other dogs ignore him. Along his journey to recovery, Kibby discovers things that will inspire children to accept who they are and accept others who are different. He learns the importance of not judging others for the way they look.

Cassell states, “I am deeply grateful and honored to receive the Pinnacle Book Achievement Award. As a former special education teacher, my objective for writing Kibby the Space Dog was for children to celebrate the similarities in each other, rather than focus on the differences.”

Cassell’s three children’s books teach life lessons through the eyes of her dog Kibby. To purchase “Kibby the Space Dog,” “Kibby Gets a Little Sister” and “Kibby and Olive Move to Georgia,” please visit her website at andreacassell.com.
