It may not seem like much, but venues have suffered a lot these past few years with COVID-19 being just one of the major issues.
Some others include people being laid off work and not having extra funds to spend, musicians quitting touring and a shift in where we all spend our money.
As a venue, it is hard to accept these changes and hard to navigate the waters of showing the public how important the arts are, but also realizing that money is tight … for nearly everyone.
The Plaza has been so lucky to have sold out two different shows recently. And we just want to take a moment to thank our patrons! Having these sold out shows just reiterates how important the arts are. Live music is a reminder that magic exists and life is fun! Rumours, the Fleetwood Mac Tribute that performed outside in May, and now, the Eagles Tribute Band from Georgia Players Guild is sold out for August.
We have had new people come to The Plaza for both Rumours and our Eagles Tribute Band. People from Milledgeville, Athens, Greensboro — all traveling from outside of historic Eatonton. And for that, we are so grateful. We love getting to show off The Plaza and the historic district in Eatonton. Getting to usher in new faces into our theater is always so fun as they say, ‘I had no clue this was here!’ Or, ‘WOW, this is amazing!’ We feel the same way — The Plaza IS amazing. What we have at our fingertips is amazing.
Making this all happen are the donors and members of The Plaza, so we also are so grateful for you. Without monetary donations in the forms of sponsorships, memberships and donations, The Plaza could not exist as we do. We hope that you will continue to understand the importance of the arts and how important YOU are to The Plaza’s mission.
We can’t wait to see you at the Eagles Tribute show and look forward to meeting all the new faces at our SOLD OUT shows!
Thank you all for showing up and coming to The Plaza!
