GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Glen at Lake Oconee Village recently hosted an art show featuring art made by their residents.
The showcase featured nearly 50 pieces of art from the residents.
Edna Solsvig had four of her paintings on display and proudly said that she did the paintings without the paint by numbers guide, deciding instead to do her own painting.
Solsvig is 98 years old and has found a love for painting. Her favorite piece she created is titled “By the Seashore” and was made from fingerpaints.
Two booths down from Solsvig was a woodworking display by Mary Ruth Allen. Allen’s display featured wood pieces including a checkers set (reversible playing sides, game pieces and a game piece holder) and a step stool. She works primarily at the senior center workshop in Alpharetta.
When asked about how long she works on her projects she replied, “When you are enjoying something you loose track of time.”
Another resident, Woody Harper, had his beautiful wood birdhouses on display. Harper was nowhere to be found during the art show because he had left to go back to working on other birdhouses.
After the show everyone filed into the “bistro” for a photo-op, and for champaign and hors d’oeuvres. During the reception many of the residents were seen talking about their art projects.
