PGA tour pro Blake Adams to host FCA Golf Tourney

A local boy from right here in Eatonton reached out to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to see how he might be able to assist them in their local efforts.

Without hesitation he was asked to host the third annual Lake Oconee FCA Golf Classic to be held at Cuscowilla Golf Club Sept. 24. In his third year on the PGA Tour and enjoying his best year ever, Adams was looking for ways to give back to his community incorporating his personal beliefs.

FCA was an ideal choice for him having been active in this organization during his college careers at both UGA and Georgia Southern, and it is not a coincidence that he still brandishes a Cuscowilla Golf Club logo on his tour bag calling it his “home away from home,” which is Swainsboro where he resides with his wife and two children.

FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America challenging athletes at all levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Lake Oconee FCA focuses on serving a five-county area by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.

FCA has the ability to witness and discuss Christianity within our local schools, not only impacting thousands of young athletes but oft times the coaches as well.

Other than the yearly banquet, the golf tournament is the only other fundraiser for this chapter. The focus this year, with Adams’ assistance, is to ensure that this event is memorable to every participant.

Not only will lunch be served by Chik fil-A and dinner by Georgia Butts, but for those that register and pay by Aug. 15 it will include a very nice Tee Prize.

Any one that can out drive Blake will be awarded as well — good luck with that!

To register for this year’s event or to sponsor, either go to www.lakeoconeefca.org or call the area office at (706) 453-6030. Only 40 spots remain.
