Putnam High School Senior, Tyler R. Chandler, son of Keith and Candi Chandler, was honored as Rotary Student of the Month.

Chandler’s academic and extracurricular accomplishments include being named to the A-B Honor Roll for his entire school career, being a member of the Beta Club and achieving an exceptional grade on his AP Chemistry test. His leadership qualifications include being treasurer of the Art Club, Section Leader and Drum major of the marching band. Tyler participates in baseball, and serves his community through mission trips throughout the Southeast, Alaska and Jamaica. He plans to attend UGA and major in music.

J.R. Beckwith was honored as Rotary Teacher of the Month. J.R. attended UGA and U.T. Chattanooga, earning a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Ed., and Master of Music Ed. He has taught 23 years, of which four have been at Putnam High School and teaches Band and Production. His other duties include the marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble and entertainment technology. His community work includes being director of operations for the Athens Symphony and composer/arranger in residence for the Athens Symphony.
