Golf pro Blake Adams to host Christian Athletes tourney
A local boy from right here in Eatonton, followed by a college career at both UGA and Georgia Southern, reached out to FCA to see how he might be able to assist them in their local efforts. Without hesitation, he asked to host the 3rd Annul Lake Oconee FCA Golf Classic to be held at Cuscowilla Golf Club on Sept. 24.
In his third year on the PGA Tour and enjoying his best year ever Blake was planning on taking this week off to spend quality time with family. He made the mistake of shooting a 6-under-par 135 to finish runner-up in the Columbus (Ohio) sectional qualifier the day after The Memorial and therefore will be representing our area in this weeks’ U.S. Open.
“I was planning on playing in Memphis this past week and then take this week off but now I have bigger plans. I am truly excited to make a U.S. Open my first major and I am looking forward to the experience at Olympic Golf Club in San Francisco.”
Adams took this time off to not only spend quality time with his wife and two children but also reflect on experiences in his life that have had a positive impact and ways that he can give back. FCA was an integral part of his college days and to assist the Lake Oconee area by attending this years’ golf tournament is just the beginning.
“I truly want to do more for these types of organizations.”
FCA has the ability to witness and discuss Christianity within our local schools, not only impacting thousands of young athletes but oft times the coaches as well. Other than our yearly banquet, the golf tournament is our only other major fundraiser. Our focus this year, with Blake’s assistance, is to ensure that this event is memorable to every participant.”
To register for this year’s event either go to www.lakeoconeefca.org or call their area office at (706) 453-6030.
