2 children watching TV killed when car crashes into home

FRANKFORT, Ind. – Two children were killed Wednesday night while watching television in the living room of their home when a car ran off the roadway and crashed through the side of the house, also leaving their mother in critical condition.

Clinton County, Indiana sheriff’s deputies responded late Wednesday to a report of a vehicle hitting a house. When deputies arrived, they found a white vehicle in the home’s living room.

Inside the vehicle were five minors, and in the home were four people – three children and their mother. Two of the children inside the home were killed on impact; the other child was not injured.

The vehicle’s occupants were treated with minor injuries, including the driver, 17-year-old Alia Sierra, of Frankfort, Indiana.

Also in the home was the deceased children’s mother, Bridget Fullerton, 37, who was transported from the scene via air ambulance to an Indianapolis hospital.

Clinton County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Joseph Mink said that Fullerton was critically injured in the accident but had surgery Thursday morning and is doing much better than expected.

Sierra’s car has been impounded, and officials are investigating the speed at which the car hit the house, and whether or not it went airborne.

Investigators have yet to determine why Sierra lost control of the vehicle, before going through a ditch and grass field and hitting the house.

Officials said in a press release that the incident is considered an active investigation and that all information will be sent to the Clinton County prosecutor for review.
