Rock Eagle Environmental Education dates announced

The Rock Eagle Environmental Education Program is excited to announce the spring 2010 dates for Camp EcoAdventure, their environmental education community day camp. Campers will explore the wonderful world of our natural environment with hands-on, action packed adventures. Camp EcoAdventure will run from April 5 through April 9, 2010, and is open to first through fifth graders. Participants may join us for one day or for the whole week. Each day includes two snacks, activities, a craft and much more.

The daily fun includes: Green Team Planeteers (Monday, April 5): Join the Green Team and learn the three R’s: Reducing, Reusing, Recycling! Campers will partake in a canoeing clean up (weather dependent) and create a beautiful treasure with trash; Animal Ambassadors (Tuesday, April 6): Why do birds have hollow bones? Alligators have a third eye-lid! Determine why these adaptations and others are important by meeting some of Rock Eagle’s animal ambassadors; Tree Trekkers (Wednesday, April 7): Why do we need trees? Campers will discover the importance of trees while hiking along Rock Eagle trails and help beautify Turtle Town by planting a garden; Time Travelers (Thursday, April 8): Step back in time to investigate the life of Native Americans and Georgia pioneers. Campers will play pioneer and Native American games, learn how to use pioneer tools and make pottery; Water Watchers (Friday, April 9): Explore how streams are used to monitor the health of our lands. Campers will sample in a Rock Eagle stream, learn about their local watershed and create a piece of art to enter in the 2010 National River of Words contest.

For questions or registration, call Kelly Scott at (706) 484-2834 or e-mail kellyjo@uga.edu. Visit online at www.rockeagle4h.org/ee/community/EcoAdventure.html for further information. Space is limited, so register now. Registration due March 17, 2010.
