Hancock Elementary receives backpack and school supplies

Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849 donated 150 backpacks filled with school supplies to M. E. Lewis Elementary School in Hancock County on July 13. Also donated were additional school supplies that the teachers could hand out as needed during the school year. The goal of this project was to help equip children in low income families with school materials to enable them to have a successful year at school. Principal Anton Anthony and Assistant Principal Crystal Little met Lake Oconee Elks Bob and Beth Colie and Bill and Lynda Lewis at the school and helped unload and bring in the bags and supplies. The Elks were very excited to be able to help the youngsters at the school have a great year. This project was made possible by a grant from the Elks National Foundation.
