LOA breaks ground on new fine arts center

GREENSBORO, Ga. — On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) officially commenced the groundbreaking on their new Fine Arts Center on LOA’s campus. This project was celebrated with an on-site ceremony, featuring performances by the LOA Jazz Band and an introduction by LOA CEO, Otho Tucker. Many fine arts faculty and students were in attendance, as well as other members of the community.

This project will be an exciting new addition to LOA’s campus — one that the Lake Oconee Academy Foundation has diligently worked on for over two years to secure funding.

“We are so thrilled to be able to provide this new facility to the faculty and student body of LOA. There is no other program in our school that touches as many students as the fine arts program. It’s a strong part of who we are,” said Dr. Tucker.

In addition, LOA has persistently worked to use as many local partners as possible. Two of these partners are BankSouth and Landmark Construction. “BankSouth has been an integral part of the development from the beginning of LOA’s existence and now working with the school for the construction phase of the Arts Building project. Also, Landmark has been a contributor and constructed our Sport Fieldhouse at the soccer/football field. They have again stepped up to help with value engineering to make this project as economical as possible,” stated Dr. Tucker. “We look forward to working with them on future projects. I would also be remiss if I did not mention the USDA Rural Funding Division and our agents Kathleen Henderson and Jennifer Daugherty. Their partnership during the overall high school project has been exemplary.”

The Fine Arts Center is now under construction, with hopes of completion in September 2022. Follow the LOA Facebook and Instagram pages (@LakeOconeeAcademy) for up-to-date progress of this exciting project.
