Dugan receives FMB scholarship

Audrey Dugan, a senior at Gatewood School, in Eatonton was recently selected as a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship for the Julian and Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship which is sponsored by the Community Bankers Association of Georgia (CBA), and funded by CBA and its membership.

CBA awarded four $1,000 scholarships to this year’s candidates for the Julian & Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship. Applications were submitted to the Association through a CBA member community bank. Miss Dugan was sponsored by the Officers and Employees at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Eatonton.

The scholarship is named for the late Jan Hester, daughter of Lalia and the late Julian Hester, long-time CEO of Community Bankers Association.  In addition to supporting community banking, this scholarship fund is an opportunity to pass on the positive qualities both Julian & Jan Hester exemplified to further the development of tomorrow’s generations.  The 2011 scholarships were open to Georgia high school seniors who will be entering a Georgia college, university or trade school (two year program or more) in the fall semester of 2011.

Miss Dugan will graduate from Gatewood School in May 2011. She is not only on the Farmer’s & Merchants Bank Junior Board of Directors, but she serves as President of the Key Club, President of the Senior Class, Treasurer for the National Honor Society, Class Representative of the Student Government Association, and actively participates in the Anchor Club. Miss Dugan has received numerous awards, including the Georgia Certificate of Merit, National Merit Scholar Commended Student, and the Star Student System Winner. She has plans to attend the University of Georgia in the Fall.

The Farmers and Merchants Bank will host a cook out on May 25th to honor the 2010-2011 Junior Board of Directors and announce the board for 2011-2012.  FMB serves Putnam County with offices in downtown Eatonton and Lake Oconee in Harmony Crossing.  For more information on how Farmers & Merchants Bank can assist you in your financial needs or on its ever growing Junior Board program, please call (706) 485-9941 or visit www.ibankfmb.com.
