Harlem GospeLive Revue to take stage locally

The incredible talents of the Harlem GospeLive Revue will soon light the stage of The Plaza Arts Center. This is the first time the Harlem Gospel group has visited the Eatonton stage, and Lydia Ivanditti, the director of the Plaza, has been in charge of finding talent to entertain the Eatonton and lake country area.

“This is their first time in Eatonton performing. This is going to be a high energy, true New York-style production of professional musicians. The performance will truly take listeners through a history of Gospel with their music,” Ivanditti said.

Ivanditti scouts entertainment that maintains a variety of shows for the community. Her eye for unique acts is uncanny and the patrons have always appreciated the diversity of shows that the Plaza hosts on a regular

basis.

“We wanted to do something really professional. The show is in conjunction with our MLK Jr. Celebration and we wanted to support and commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.’s life with wonderful music,” Ivanditti said. “We hope we’ll have a full house.”

The group is composed of eight performers both male and female. Harlem, N.Y. is known for its world-renowned Gospel music and some of the greatest Gospel musicians have come out of New York.

The Harlem GospeLive Revue will take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 at the Plaza Arts Center. Tickets are $27, $39 or $53 depending on the seats chosen before the concert.

“I highly recommend those who wish to attend the concert to go online to purchase the tickets and choose their seats early. The more expensive tickets are in the front and center of the theater, the $39 tickets are for the remaining floor seats and the least expensive tickets are for balcony seating except the front row of the balcony,” Ivanditti said.

A cash bar will be available, but concessions will not be served before or during the concert.

“This center was built to be a community arts center for everyone. It is going to be an absolutely wonderful show and I’m looking forward to seeing the community in attendance,” Ivanditti said.

The group’s website gives insight as to what attendees should expect to see from the group.

“The Harlem GospeLive Revue attempts to provide the audience with a unique revue that orientates new ears, and blesses the true believer, with music of the African American religious experience. From this birth and legacy came, Blues, Jazz, R&B, and Hip Hop, to tell the story of a people. Even Rock and Roll was inspired by gospel.

The contribution of African Americans to the world’s history of music is unprecedented. African American vocal styles have set the template for others to follow. Black vocal styles are studied and copied worldwide and have become a true American icon setting the tone for the twentieth century.”
