Concert For A Cause at The Corry House
The 8th Annual Concert at the Corry House benefiting Global Samaritans will be held on Friday, Oct. 4,at the historic Corry House in Union Point. For those not familiar with the Corry House, this would be a perfect opportunity to visit this beautiful event facility and ancestral family home of Greene County’s very own Dr. Harry (Bo) Cheves. Enjoy a lovely evening under the stars while supporting a very worthwhile cause.
Global Samaritans, founded by Drs. Bo and Ruby Cheves in 1997, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to showing God’s love by enhancing the physical and spiritual well-being of the people in Southern Zambia. Global Samaritans includes a children’s home and school located just outside of Livingstone, Zambia. From its base at the children’s home, Global Samaritans also operates two commercial well-drilling rigs providing water to villages that do not currently have access to clean water. Over the past several years, 51 rural villages have received their own well thanks to Global Samaritans generous donors. These wells have significantly improved the lives of over 13,000 people. When visiting a village, the Global Samaritans drilling team always takes the opportunity to share God’s love and minister to the villagers spiritually.
Global Samaritans has provided a loving, nurturing environment to orphaned children since the home first opened in 2002, and continues to welcome new children as the need arises. Over the years, many have “grown up” at the home and have gone on to obtain college degrees or technical school certificates and are now starting their adult lives out on their own. Global Samaritans is proud to see the impact they are making on the beautiful, yet poverty-stricken country of Zambia.
For the past eight years, Global Samaritans has hosted this evening concert and fund-raising event on the grounds of the Corry House. This year Global Samaritans is honored to be joined by their Zambia Director, David Combrink and his wife Bundy, who will be here in the U.S. visiting many of the supporters of the charity and sharing the latest happenings at Global Samaritans in Zambia.
James David Carter, former contestant on NBC’s talent show “The Voice,” is back this year by popular demand. He will be entertaining the crowd with his excellent “classic country” style music. Dinner, beverages and desserts will be available for purchase, along with handmade Zambian crafts and Silent Auction items. Come on out for a beautiful and fun evening under the stars, with great music, great food, and to benefit a great cause.
