Lakepoint Community Church opens with ribbon cutting

The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony with Lakepoint Community Church on Wednesday, Nov. 3 to celebrate the new Worship Center that was dedicated on Oct. 31.  Lakepoint offers Sunday worship in a blend of contemporary and traditional songs, with Biblical life application messages in a casual, visitor friendly atmosphere.

According to Pastor Rob Raynor, “Lakepoint was brought to Lake Oconee after working with a group from the Lake area that was attending our Church in Covington, GA.  We believed God was opening the doors for a church (with our style of worship and ministries) that would partner with other churches in lifting up Christ in this area.”

After two years, the move was made to begin a church at Lake Oconee.  The first year the church was a mission church from the Eastridge Community Church in Covington. On June 8, 2008 the church was incorporated and was established as Lakepoint Community Church located on Lake Oconee Parkway.  On May 9, 2010, Lakepoint purchased the Southeast Interior Design Building and moved to that location on Harmony Road where the building was renovated into a 200 seat worship center, children/student classrooms and office space.

“God opened the doors for our new campus and provided the resources (in the worst economical times since the depression) for us to be strategically where we are” says Raynor.

Programs at Lakepoint include children and student ministries from infants to college; small group ministries for all ages; men and women ministries with retreats, seminars and Bible studies; Christian counseling with a Christian Psychologist; and Marriage Builders couples ministries. Areas of serving include worship arts, media, musicians, missions, student/children, parking team, café and affinity groups.  Activities including golf, fishing, motorcycling, camping and others are conducted when an interest brings a group together.  Lakepoint also provides missional support to Mid-India Christian Mission, Atlanta Christian College, Atlas Ministries and other local organizations.

At Lakepoint, Sunday services are at 11 a.m., with complimentary coffee and pastries available at 10:30 a.m. Visitors are always welcome.  Office hours are Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Drop in anytime to visit and learn more about Lakepoint.

Lakepoint is a proud member of the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce.  According to Raynor, Lakepoint is a member of the Chamber “to connect with the community and the business community to offer our services, ministries and mission to help people find life’s true purpose in Jesus Christ. Our doors and hearts are open to all who seek Christ, His love and forgiveness. Our focus is to provide a church home that lives out loving God, each other and reaches out beyond ourselves here and globally as God leads us.”

Lakepoint Community Church is located at 940 Harmony Road, Eatonton, GA 31024.  For more information, call (706) 923-0014 or visit us at our web site at www.lakepoint
