Greene County Library kicking off summer reading club with magic show
Magician and Storyteller David Ginn is once again the opening act for the Greene County Library’s Vacation Reading Club. Mr. Ginn encourages audience participation as he brings the children of grades K through 5 exciting, informative and fun filled programs filled with magic, puppets and his adorable white rabbit, Harry. This year he’ll follow the Reading Club theme of “Make A Splash – Read.”
“Make Waves at Your Library – Read” is the theme for the teens & tweens (grades 6-12). Week one will involve making plans for their own Tabletop Fountains, they will continue this project through weeks two and three. As with all children in the Vacation Reading Club, they are encouraged to read eight or more books during this time.
Miss Mag (Queen of All Storytime) and her helpers will also get into the swim of things by reading, “Max the Minnow”, to the tiny tots who meet in the Children’s area at the front of the library.
The Adult Program will focus on making “Vacations on Water Scrapbooks.” Each person will bring pictures, mementos and souvenirs from past beach vacations to create their own personal memory book.
The programs are all held each Thursday afternoon at the Greene County Public Library in Greensboro from 1 until 2 p.m. They begin on May 27 and run through June 24. The programs are free to all, so come in and register.
