On Feb. 28-March 1, area Elks, representing Lake Oconee Lodge No. 2849 traveled to Valdosta and Valdosta Elks Lodge No. 728 to meet with Elks National President Robert Duitsman of Culver City, California and Past National President Mike Smith of Plant City, Fla. The three-day meeting consisted of training for the Elks as well as many opportunities to visit with national and state leaders, other Georgia Elks and develop statewide networks in order to share experiences and expand community programs. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, Lake Oconee Lodge No. 2849, are very active in supporting Veterans, Patriotism and American Youth through programs funded by the Elks National Foundation and local efforts.
