South Pointe Commercial merges with Coldwell Banker

Tom Martin, president of Coldwell Banker Lake Oconee Realty and Coldwell Banker Lake Country has announced that South Pointe Commercial has merged with the local Coldwell Banker effective, July 15.

South Pointe Commercial has been a successful business started by former fraternity brothers Mike Carroll and Jim Joel.  Pam Haskins was hired by the company as Office Manager when the company opened its doors in January 2004.

“This is the right move at the right time for our company,” Carroll said.  “We firmly believe that Coldwell Banker is best positioned to serve the commercial market through its worldwide Commercial Franchise and a highly sophisticated website that reaches potential buyers around the globe,” he said. “We are joining a company that is on the cutting-edge of technology, providing clients with top-rate service.”

Martin said he is excited to have Mike, Jim and Pam on board. “The expertise that this group brings to the table will be invaluable to us as we expand our commercial real estate services.”

South Pointe was the first company in the Lake Area to exclusively focus on commercial real estate and created an extensive database to measure commercial real estate activity.   Prior to South Pointe Commercial, Carroll was Senior Vice President for Trammell Crow Company before retiring to Lake Oconee.  He and two partners started a corporate real estate company in the Detroit area that was later acquired by Trammell Crow Company.  He earned his B.S. and MBA from West Virginia University.

Jim Joel has been a custom home builder in country club communities in Atlanta–such as Sugar Loaf, County Club of the South, Horseshoe Bend, and St. Ives—for  more than 25 years.  He also owned and operated one of the first REMAX franchises in the Atlanta area.  He relocated to Lake Oconee in 2001 and began building homes in Reynolds Plantation.   He earned his B.S. from West Virginia University as well.

Coldwell Banker Lake Oconee Realty and Coldwell Banker Lake Country are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Forty-Four Holdings LLC; a Georgia Limited Liability Company affiliated with BankSouth, and is the dominant real estate company in the area.   The company has 80 agents in five offices providing residential, farms and land, and commercial real estate services in a six counties – Morgan, Madison, Greene, Putnam, Oconee and Hancock.  For more information, visit the company’s websites www.cblakeoconee or www.cblakesinclair.com.
