Spotlight Theatre marks ‘Potter’ release

Witches and wizards and Voldemort, oh my! The final chapter of Harry Potter’s story grows near, and with it, the first of the two final installments of J. K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

To celebrate one of the final movies, the Spot Light Theaters in the Lake Oconee area is hosting a midnight release party on November 18 and the early morning of the 19.

“The doors to the theatre will be open beginning at 9:30 p.m. with Mark the Magic Man onsite, yellow and green balloons, owls perched and games for all to play. It is now time for Harry to grow up and break the habit.  It is time to bring Voldemort down for good,” said Brandi Boswell, event and marketing manager for the Spotlight Theater, said via a press release.

All eight theaters will be set to play the seventh Harry Potter film and tickets for general admission are $9.75. To upgrade to the Spotlight Theater’s VIP level private box seating, the price is only $10, or 10 non-perishable canned food items. VIP seating includes free popcorn to help enhance the enjoyment of the experience. All food items will be donated to the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties Second Harvest Food for the Needy Program. Only 240 boxed seats are available, so be sure to come early to make sure that the best seat in the house is yours. Dress in costume to show off your favorite character and make the night even more memorable.

“It is always exciting to watch everyone’s excitement build over the course of the night to see the movie. Harry Potter usually brings a lot of reminiscing from older people who read it to their children, and their children, who loved growing up with Harry. The great thing about the books and the movies is that they have reached numerous generations and will continue to do so,” Boswell said.

While we can’t wait to enjoy the magic and suspense of the seventh Harry Potter novel, those who read the books from cover to cover are hoping that Harry’s final movie

moments are just as visually stunning and heart-wrenching as the final pages were.

Whether you’ve identified with the Slytherin House, or felt more towards loyal Gryffindor, the time has arrived to merge together against a common enemy — Lord Voldemort. The final battle of good versus evil may be bittersweet for Potter fans, but the journey has been so worth every penny, every midnight book release, and movie première.
