Threads of Love active on Lake Oconee
For the past year, a group of gals gets together once a month to cut, sew, package, crochet, knit, share, and have a fun time together creating preemie gowns and blankets. These are packaged along with a prayer and a certificate of recognition (that serves as a birth certificate) and given to families in area hospitals who have lost a child prematurely. Threads of Love is part of a national organization that is an outreach sewing ministry that strives to provide for some of the physical needs of tiny infants while showing God’s love to their parents and families. Some of the gals sew, some embroider, some knit or crochet and some cut gowns and blankets so they can be sewn while others package up the finished items. It’s a fun group of gals from the Lake area that share of themselves to others who are dealing with a loss they had not anticipated. So far, this group has donated over a 125 packets to hospitals in Macon, Augusta, Atlanta, Eastman, Florence, SC, Sioux Center, IA, and Cabo San Lucas, MX.
Contact Joyce at 706-467-3652 with questions. We’d love to have you join us. The only cost is your time which is priceless and so very much appreciated by the families who are the recipients of these tiny gowns and blankets. But, fabric, ribbon, lace and monetary donations are very much appreciated.
Threads of Love meets the 1st Wed. of each month at Christ the King Catholic Church across from Publix on Hiway 44 from 1-3pm.
