Eatonton’s South Industrial Park Earns ‘Georgia Ready’ certification

The Georgia Department of Economic Development, in cooperation with the Putnam Development Authority has announced that the South Industrial Park located at 173 Industrial Boulevard SE in Eatonton, has earned a “Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development” (GRAD) certification with “Select” status. The site’s new “GRAD Select” status provides an additional seal of approval that makes it especially attractive for future industrial development.

“Today’s businesses are most frequently looking at speed to market as a critical deciding factor when it comes to site locations, and having another site such as the South Industrial Park where multiple layers of due diligence has been completed, adds to Georgia’s portfolio of opportunities for business growth,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “I applaud and thank the Putnam Development Authority on their investment in this site and obtaining the ‘GRAD Select’ certification.”

Located in east Georgia between Augusta and metro Atlanta, the 121-acre Eatonton site is within a mile of both Highway 441 and Highway 129 and approximately 20 miles south of I-20. The site’s first 50 acres are fully developed with an asphalt paved roadway, an 8” water main, an 8” gravity sewer collection system, and storm drain system. Additionally, the South Industrial Park is just 90 minutes from both Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where 80% of the U.S. market is within a two-hour flight or two-day truck drive, and Augusta Regional Airport, which offers daily flights by major carriers.

“The Putnam Development Authority is very excited to receive our GRAD Select designation for the South Industrial Park Site,” said Putnam Development Authority Board Chair Walt Rocker. “This board has made the investment and allocated resources towards this certification to grow our community and to proactively market ourselves across the state.”

Completing the GRAD certification program with GDEcD is a proactive way for both community planners and land-owners to help catalyze economic growth and industrial development in their regions. To qualify for GRAD status, available sites must meet the program’s due diligence standards, be reviewed by a third party and earn the final approval of a board of advisors comprised of public and private sector economic development professionals. The GRAD Select status is an indication that a site has met or exceeded more rigorous certification requirements. Additional site information can be found at https://www.putnamdevelopmentauthority.com/index.php/estate/121-acre-industrial-property/.

The Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) Program offers more than 68 industrial certified sites that are ready for fast-track industrial projects, thanks to prior diligence. Economic development groups and landowners interested in obtaining GRAD certification for their property are encouraged to visit georgia.org/grad-certified-sites/application for additional information.
