Golf group raises funds for no-cost mammograms at Good Sam
GREENSBORO, Ga. – Reynolds Women’s Golf Association (WGA) 18 Holers recently held their annual Chip in for a Cure tournament to support St Mary’s Good Samaritan Breast Health fund. They crushed it by raising $55,156.45, bringing their two year contribution to over $100,000! The monies raised go provide no-cost mammograms for the underserved women of Greene County and also education on the importance of Breast Health. As a result of the success of this campaign, the program has been expanded to year-round.
“Breast cancer doesn’t just happen in the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Good Samaritan Foundation Chair Becky Smith. “It is year-round. We are fortunate to be able to offer this program and transportation to potentially catch cancer sooner.” “We are always on, always available, all year long!” added Bria Brown, Manager of Support Services for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital, “Thank you to the sponsors, anonymous donors and the 120 women who played and also those who donated but didn’t participate.”
St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital is now offering a limited number of no-cost screening 3D mammograms to underserved women. To be eligible for this service, you must be at least 40 years old, have no history of breast problems, be uninsured, have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months, be a Greene County resident, and have a primary care physician to receive results.
