Oconee Performing Arts Society presents Fa-la-la

Oconee Performing Arts Society proudly presents its inaugural holiday show Fa-la-la. This new tradition promises to be a holiday extravaganza with all the trimmings: song, dance, Santa and so much more.

OPAS Artistic Director Doug LaBrecque has assembled an A-list of musicians to ring in the holidays with the Lake Country community. He will direct and host the event and appear alongside an incredible cast of musical artists, headlined by Grammy and Emmy award-winning music director John McDaniel. The concert will also showcase vocalists Dee Roscioli, the longest-running Elphaba in “Wicked” history, and Madison Claire Parks, one of LaBrecque’s favorite young singers. The concert will feature top-notch Atlanta-based musicians playing the violin, cello, bass and drums. Putnam High School All-State trumpeter Bobby Boone and All-State trombonist Dylan Prince will also make an appearance.

The concert takes place at The Plaza Arts Center on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100 and $75. Call 706-467-6000 to purchase.

LaBrecque has an illustrious career. He thrilled theatre audiences as both The Phantom and Raoul in the Harold Prince production of The Phantom of the Opera. LaBrecque starred in the original cast of the Broadway revival of Showboat, also directed by Mr. Prince. One of the most prolific concert performers of his generation, LaBrecque has been a soloist at Carnegie Hall as well as with more than 125 orchestras across the globe.

John McDaniel was Rosie O’Donnell’s charming and quick-witted band leader. He won two Emmys, a Grammy, and received a Drama Desk nomination. John has an extensive career as a music director, composer, director, arranger, orchestrator and producer, and is an artistic director at the Tony Award-winning O’Neill Theater Center. He has collaborated with Cab Calloway, Shirley MacLaine, George Burns, Joel Gray, Carol Burnett, Betty Buckley, Bette Midler, and conducted numerous Symphony Orchestras across America.

Dee Roscioli is best known for her seven-year record-breaking run as Elphaba in the smash Broadway hit “Wicked.” She also appeared in the recent Broadway revival of “Fiddler on the Roof.” Last year she starred on Broadway in “The Cher Show,” portraying the pop icon herself. Roscioli has headlined for numerous symphony orchestras and created her solo show for Birdland, 54 Below, and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Cabaret series.

Madison Claire Parks has been hailed by the LA Times for her “pitch-perfect soprano.” Parks has gained critical acclaim across the country as one of the top up-and-coming classical leading ladies. She is most well-known for starring as Luisa in the New York production of The Fantasticks. Parks is also a coveted concert soloist performing with numerous Symphony Orchestras. She will return to Lake Country in September for Broadway Sings for OPAS.
