Top retweets of 2017 include 3 from Obama

(RNN) – In a list of the nine most retweeted tweets of 2017 compiled by Twitter, three tweets by former President Barack Obama made the cut.

The list included responses to historic floods after Hurricane Harvey, an athlete’s pushback on President Donald Trump, a terror attack and a quest for free food.

No. 9: The Detroit Lions’ Sam Martin asked for retweets of a video he posted, and for every one, he pledged to donate 6 pounds of dog food to the Houston area in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which devastated the area in August. It received 623,000 retweets and 214,000 likes.

No. 8: At the end of his term, the inauguration day of Donald Trump, President Obama tweeted his thoughts: “It’s been the honor of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and better man.”

No. 7: LeBron James responded Sept. 23 to President Donald Trump uninviting his rival Stephen Curry after Curry declined to attend a White House reception for the champion Golden State Warriors. Calling the president “u bum,” James’ jab was retweeted 660,000 times and liked 1.5 million times.
