Knights of Columbus Assembly 3799, St. Vincent De Paul Society hold Hancock County Food Drive
The Christ Our King and Savior Church St. Vincent De Paul Society (SVDPS) and the Knights of Columbus Assembly 3799 (KofC) partnered for the second food drive this month to support the needs of the Hancock County Food Pantry located in Sparta due to the COVID-19 pandemic (the first food drive supported the Greene County Food Pantry). Hancock County is one of the poorest areas in the state with more than 30% of the population living below the federal poverty line. The food drive collected over 4,000 pounds of various food items and were delivered to the food pantry on the Friday of the collection. SVDPS and the KofC provide monthly bread runs and monetary support but in this challenging time where the need is so great the food drive extended the impact in that community. Those who access the food pantry were very appreciative of the donations that they received. A third food drive is being organized for the food pantry in Putnam County, the third of three counties that are supported by SVDP and the KofC. Everyone’s generosity to these organizations is always appreciated and all proceeds go directly to the pantries in Sparta, Eatonton and Greensboro.
