Rotary Club honors December 2024 Students-of-the-Month

GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for December 2024: Lola Grace Davis(Gatewood), Jayla Turner (Greene County High School), Marley Beeker (LOA), and Kristina Xiong (Putnam County High School).Jewell Morrison, October Student-of-the-Month from LOA, was also recognized.
Lola Grace Davis is a senior at Gatewood High School and is the daughter of Keith and Callie Davis. She has been involved in many activities during her time at Gatewood. She is on the Gatewood Shotgun Team, Lake Oconee Shotgun Team and sideline cheer team. She is a part of Gatewood’s Student Ambassador Program and Anchor Club. She works part-time at her family farm and Suds Club. She participates in her community Farmers and Merchant Bank Junior Board program. She loves spending her free time on the farm, shooting shotguns and hanging out with friends and family. After high school, she plans to attend college and become a diagnostic medical sonographer. April Allen is her chosen Gatewood High School teacher-of-the-month because she always welcomes her students with a smile on her face and her classroom always brings enjoyment throughout the day.
Jayla Turner is a senior at Greene County High School. Her parents are Michael and Kimberly Turner. She has excelled academically throughout her high school career, taking on challenging courses such as AP, honors and dual enrollment while maintaining honor status. She is president of the GCHS DECA chapter. She is also a member of the UGA Leadership and BETA Club. Since her sophomore year in high school, she has worked part-time at the Farmers Bank. After graduation, she seeks to major in business administration. Following college, she plans to continue her full-time career in finance. Gregory Ingram is her chosen Greene County High School teacher-of-the-month.
Marley Beeker is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy High School. Her parents are Jason and Rachel Beeker. An honor roll student, she is a member of Beta Club, Atlas Ministry and the Bridge Program. She enjoys photography, fashionand being with friends and family. She considers her compassion for those around her as her best attribute. Kimberly Trivette, her grandmother, is someone she highly respects. She respects her for her ability to be resilient during challenging times. After high school, she hopes to attend Auburn University and pursue a degree in either interior design or fashion merchandising. She sees herself owning her own business in 10 years. Marley selected Teena Garland as her teacher-of-the-month.
Jewell Morrison, the October Rotary student-of-the-month from Lake Oconee Academy, was recognized at the December Rotary meeting. She is an officer of Beta Club, a Student Government Association participant, and a Farmers and Merchants Bank Junior Board Member. She has received numerous awards for her academics, including the National Merit Commended Scholar Recognition and the UGA Certificate of Merit. Extracurricularly, she enjoys baking, singing, and spending time with her friends. She is the drum major for the school’s marching band and the director of worship at First Baptist Church of Union Point. She considers her hardworking attitude to be her most valuable asset. She looks up to her mother, Karen Morrison, the most because of her patience and grace. After high school, she plans to attend a four-year college to major in computer science. She selected Anna Kate Bennett as her teacher-of-the-month.
Kristina Xiong is a senior at Putnam County High School. Her parents are Ka and Ying Xiong. She is a REACH Scholar, a 3.8 GPA student, and an honor student. She is a member of the Beta Club, president of the National Honor Society, yearbook staff and volleyball player. In the past, she has joined other clubs such as Anchor Club, Key Club, Technology Student Association (TSA), and JROTC Color Guard. She has volunteered at the Life Source Food Distribution and is part of the Junior Board of Farmers and Merchants Bank and Service Leadership. Both organizations allow her to give back to the community as a leader. After high school, she plans to go to either Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD), the University of Georgia (UGA), or the University of North Georgia (UNG) to major in graphic design. Nancy Mason is her chosen Putnam County High School teacher-of-the-month.
These exceptional students have demonstrated exemplary leadership, dedication to service, and a commitment to their communities that truly embodies the spirit of Rotary.
