Greene Co. Habitat hosts Business After Hours
On March 31, approximately 65 people attended the Greene County Chamber of Commerce ‘Business after Hours’ at the Greene County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH) Home ReStore. The GCHFH new ‘2011 Community Build Program’ was launched at this meeting. Theresa Kemp, chairman of the GCHFH Board of Directors, explained that the program will be funded solely by donations and services rendered by area businesses, suppliers and the Habitat volunteer construction team. This new community program has been endorsed by Greene County Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Area Landscape Association.
Helping people and creating new family values has become a way of life at GCHFH. Their vision and mission are to build lives as well as homes and they have been very successful in both areas. Theresa Kemp stated that “this is evidenced by the fact that over 100 happy family members reside in thirty beautiful Habitat-built homes. The pride in ownership is obvious based on the fact that all of the families, in Habitat homes, are original owners dating back to 1997”. Construction of the Community Sponsored House is scheduled to begin September 2011 and will be located in New Horizons of Ludwig Place Habitat subdivision, located behind Cotton’s Corner on highway 278E.
Elaine Mathews, Executive Director for GCHFH, states that “by becoming a Community Build Sponsor, you will provide a reliable foundation on which we can build the lives of new homeowners. Your sponsorship of materials and labor will help us build a Community Sponsored House that will further our mission”. So far the following local businesses have signed on as sponsors: Doug Askew, Jimmy Britt Chevrolet, Bughouse Pest Control, Farmers Sewer Service, Piedmont Financial Partners, and Maplewood Landscapes. National Sponsors include: Whirlpool, Hunter Douglas, Schneider Square D, and Valspar.
Please join us in this beautiful endeavor of building new lives and homes here in the Greene County community.
