Fishing Forecast for July 13, 2011
Lake Level– The main lake is clear with some stain up the rivers.
Lake Temperature– The surface water temperature is 88 degrees.
Largemouth Bass– FAIR. The fish have moved into their summer pattern and a two-point approach will catch some fish. First, anglers should throw topwater baits (Pop-R, buzzbait, and Trick worm) during the first 2-3 hours of daylight. Second, after the sun is out brightly, anglers can work the deeper docks with jigs, Texas rigged soft plastics, and a shakey head worm rig or anglers can go to deeper water and fish main lake/creek points, ledges and humps where a Carolina rigged plastic, crankbait (Deep Little N, DD-14, DD-22) or a drop shot rig. This summer pattern is in place now and will last until cooler weather arrives.
Crappie– GOOD/FAIR. The crappie have moved to underwater treetops and brushpiles where they will stay all summer and right into the fall season. Use minnows and jigs to catch those fish.
Hybrid Bass/Striped/White Bass – FAIR/GOOD.The fish are feeding and are located on the lake’s channels, ledges, and humps. Jigging spoons, live shad and trolled umbrella riggs are catching fish from those locations.
Catfish– GOOD. Catfish are now on the lake’s river/creek channels, ledges, and deep points. Best bait is small bream or bream head for larger fish. Shrimp and shad are also good baits.
