Plantation Ladies Club meets
The founder of the Plantation Ladies club, Mrs. Carolyn Reynolds Parker, was all smiles as she welcomed more than 100 ladies, including three new members, to Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro April 20. After lunch, catered by Hallie Jane’s, Miss Carolyn explained the history of Festival Hall and the auditorium which is named in her honor. A vocal quartet from UGA’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music wowed the attendees with their talent as they sang different styles of music in different languages. Singing were soprano Addie Hamilton, alto Rachel Strain, tenor Kevin Rowland, and baritone Taylor Greer. Peyson Moss accompanied them on the keyboard and their director, Stephanie Dorner Pierce provided introductions. There was more fun to be had around the corner at the Greensboro History Museum, where everyone enjoyed trying on the many hats on display. Whether straw or silk, feathered or netted, there was a chapeau to suit everyone’s fancy. The day continued with a visit to Miss Carolyn’s lovely gardens and antebellum home, full of southern charm and history. Ladies who are Reynolds Plantation property owners and would like to join PLC should contact Linda Lee lindamobleylee@mindspring.com or Claire Calloway csc108@aol.com . The next meeting will be at the Lake Club May 18.
